Plow bolts are specialized fasteners which aren't simply available at the local hardware store any longer.
They comes in many shapes and sizes, but overall their design is such that as the surface of the metal part to which they're fastened wears, they wear together and evenly so the bolt continues to hold the part just a tightly as when new until both the bolt and the metal part is worn beyond use.
The Old Type Plow bolts commonly used were the No. 7 that featured a tapered head with only a single 'tab' or reversed key to hold it in place from turning. This type of bolt is not used much today except for wear parts on bulldozers and other similar equipment (but not in sizes smaller than 5/8" diameter). These bolts were used on many different makes of moldboard plows such as John Deere, Cockshutt, Ford, Dearborn, Ferguson, Moline, Case, P&O, International Harvester, Oliver, Syracuse, Massey-Harris (M-H), and others.
We supply two sizes of 3/8 inch diameter Number 7 plow bolts.
1-1/4 (JD OEM part number 10H1149) and 1-3/4 (JD OEM part number 10H1147)
The 1-3/4 length may also be used in place of JD OEM part 10H1148 which was 1-1/2 long.
The cost of these bolts if $5.00 each and they are Grade 8 repair head bolts.
It may be necessary to grind the head flush with the surrounding material surface after installation due to the surface material being worn (if installing with used parts).
